Update on Pastor Mike

FCC Church Family,

Update 5: 8:00pm August 9 - Mike is set to come home tommorow! After two heart attacks and two stints put in (all within 3 hours), the doctors said to take it easy for at least two weeks. His heart is currently functioning the way a person's heart does after a few weeks of recovery, so that is good news. We're not sure if we'll see him in church on Sunday, but I'm sure he would appreciate your prayers and support throughout the week however you would like to show that. The family thanks you all for your continued prayers as he recovers.

Update 4: 11:00am August 9 - Mike continues to do well as he recovers from surgery. If you would like to help provide meals for the family for the next few days, please contact Moriah Huff (630-803-5594) as she is coordinating the effort. There are over a dozen people needing meals, so if you can help it would be appreciated. Mike is still expected to come home sometime on Wednesday, and I'm sure more updates will come then. Keep praying for him and the family as they recover from this unexpected event.

Update 3: 4:00pm August 8 - Mike has had surgery and a couple of stints put in. He is doing well all things considered. He will be in the hospital for the next 48 hours to be monitored to make sure he is doing okay, then they will release him, probably sometime on Wednesday this week.

The doctor said that only 5% damage was done to his heart and he got the hospital right on time for treatment to happen to avoid serious damage. For now, he is in recovery and not receiving visitors. Once he wakes up the family will see how he is doing, but I'm sure if you would like to visit him that can be arranged during this week once he is home. Again, thank you for your prayers. I'll post more if more is announced.

Update 2: 3:30pm August 8 - If you would like to pray together for Pastor Mike, the sanctuary will be open this evening after 6:30pm.

Update 1: 3:00pm August 8 - Around lunch time today (8-8-2011) Pastor Mike started to feel some pain in his chest. He and Kerra called 911 and he was taken to Sarah Bush. While on the way there he did suffer a heart attack, and this was confirmed by the doctors at the hospital. While they were checking him over, they decided it would be best to fly him to Champaign for furthur tests and treatment.

That is where he is at this time. We would encourage you to spread the word and pray for him as much as possible. He has requested that no one make the trip up to visit him just yet as lots of family are doing that and it is easy to get overwhelmed. If you have questions, feel free to contact the church or myself.

Remember that "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear..." Trust that God will continue to prove Himself faithful in the life of our church and in the life of our pastor during this trial. We look forward to see how God will use this to bring more unity to this body and glory to Himself.
